Location:

What is the ideal location? This varies from person to person, but it is important to consider what makes a holiday special to you, is it being near stunning coastlines like you might find in Tintagel or would you prefer to be surrounded by the countryside like you might find near Winkleigh. Luckily if you enjoy both these things then the Southwest has it covered. The sea and countryside are never more than a 30-minute drive away from each other.

Facilities:

Facilities are an important thing to take into consideration when picking the ideal location for your static caravan. It is good to consider things like do you want to take your dog on holiday, and do you have kids, if the answer to these questions is yes then it is important to check that the park allows them. If you are planning on taking the children, does the site have a play area for the kids to run around in or are there rules as to where you can walk the dog? Some parks will be more relaxed than others when it comes to these things.

Security and Safety:

Security and safety are key players and should not be overlooked when looking for your ideal site. Whilst the crime rate is low in the southwest, it does unfortunately still occur. It is always good to research an area before committing to it to ensure that you are comfortable with it. Look for things like, is the caravan site gated, does it have CCTV, and perhaps look at installing an alarm on your caravan. Most holiday parks are safe and the owners either live on-site or very close by.

Site Fees:

Site fees can vary from park to park and even pitch to pitch, this is because some pitches are more desirable than others, but it is important to shop around to see where you can get the best bang for your buck. It is also important to check about changes to the ground rent to see if it will go up over the years. It is good to do this to ensure that over the 10 – 15 years that your van will be there, it remains a financially viable option for you.

Community and atmosphere:

Community and atmosphere are two things that make a place, without one of these things everywhere would be nowhere. Holiday parks are a great space to make new friends and connections that last a lifetime. It is a space for like-minded people to escape the mundane and depending on the chosen location seek adrenaline or piece. You need to decide which type of community you are looking for to get the best possible holiday.

Accessibility:

One of the last major things that it is important to consider is the accessibility of the park. If you can’t drive or don’t have a car then it is important to make sure the park in question has good transport links or if you do drive does the park offer a suitable amount of parking. Another major thing to look at for a park’s accessibility is whether can you safely navigate it if you have mobility issues or if you are permanently in a wheelchair.

By carefully considering these factors you can make an informed decision that you can enjoy for years to come. If you are thinking about a holiday park it is always a good idea to ring the park and make sure it has everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
